HIJACK OF LONG MARCH? SHALL NOT

HIJACK OF LONG MARCH? SHALL NOT

Today the spearheads of status quo lie smug that their villainy and guile have no match. ‘Dawn’ newspaper has aptly headlined the situation as ‘A revolution that did not happen’. But happen it shall. On election day 2013.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri, I know you only as much, as tens of millions of my other countryfellows happen to know you through  the media in the past few days. My heart, with tens of millions of my countryfellows, resonates that you have enlivened Quaid’s motto ‘Unity, Faith, Discipline’, if nothing else as of today. You and your followers have torn apart the cliche “If people are bad, leaders are bad”. The long march has proved that it is only our so-called leaders who deserve the adjective ‘bad’. I wish that you review your statement that it is only military and judiciary who are above blame. Pakistan’s all other departments deserve as much prestige as Military and Judiciary, it is only that they do not have as much inherent strength, as Judiciary and Military have, to ward off the transgressions of less-than-mediocres masquerading as political bigwigs. Remember till 1971 Pakistan’s no department, whatsoever, was in loss.
And also remember school/college days. The good and hardworking are sweepers, gardeners, clerks, teachers and lecturars. And they are in Police, in Administration, in Judiciary, in Military, and every other department of Pakistan working in humble and highest capacities. As a thumb rule, less-than-mediocres/trouble maker students of their days sit in Assemblies. The wide bracket of people, who did not/could not join the formal service, are tillers of the soil, business people, industrialists, and the workers in business and industry. they all deserve security and prosperity. But the incompetent/corrupt politician who lives on the nation like a parasite sucks the national blood.
To rid the nation of parasites, the people need to draw a cross on all the names appearing on ballot paper in 2013 election. The crossed vote would mean alternate eligibility for contesting Assembly seats:
‘TEN YEARS OR MORE HONOURABLE FORMAL SERVICE IN ANY DEPARTMENT OF OUR COUNTRY, IN ANY CAPACITY + TWO YEARS OR MORE SINCE HAVING BEEN RELEASED FROM SERVICE’ .
The crossed vote, highest in the poll, shall be petition of the downtrodden people in the Supreme Court for change in electoral eligibility, and reelection. The political foul content will be out of Assemblies because they are incapable of competing for any officer post in any department of Pakistan, and to serve less than as officer is below their so-called dignity.
Declarations, in history, have never succeeded unless backed by force, and that means bloody situations. The change in electoral elogibility by ballot in 2013 elections seems the only reasonable way. Let us not delay the change any further.
The crossed vote seems the only option to keep away the looters from the Assemblies. Declaration of Long March, and would be negotiation will achieve nothing as far as any reforms are concerned in electoral process. And the elected Assembly under the present electoral system will never elect any Imran Khan as leader of the House for “obstacle free” loot.
